What do Roger Harrop, Brian Chernnet and Dr John DesMarteau have in common?
They are all high-achievers in their respective fields, they all were visitors to India, and came to our campuses recently. And above all, they were happy to see the spiritual side of the students and institute. They appreciated seemingly simple acts like i) lighting-of-the-lamp ceremony, ii) allusions to spiritual pursuits, iii) questions that were based on spirituality, and iv) gestures of religious behaviour by common folk on the streets of India.
Dr John, for example, was surprised to see the taxi driver do a "namaste" while crossing a temple. He mused that in America, it may just not be possible to observe a taxi driver do such a thing. Frankly, this was a strong observation, and I found it reminiscent of what my parents alway told me while I was growing up.I am thankful to these gentlemen (and to Rakeshji who got Brian and Roger to visit us) for their kind compliments on India and its cultural practices.
Roger and Brian were also happy about the emphasis on value based education that we follow in PT universe. They said this was a marked diversion from the run-of-the-mill material approach of many, and that they found it refreshing.
All this makes you think about a lot of things!
What direction is the world taking? Pure materialism with all its limitations apparently is deeply flawed. It leaves in its wake an emptiness that is immeasurable. Maybe a lot of Indians abroad come back finally to fill that gap in their lives. Or am I just being supercilious and unnecessarily patronising? How is it possible for a young student about to become an MBA to strike the right balance between materialism and spirituality? What is happiness? Lasting happiness?
I also started thinking about the disucssion on "reality" that formed the basis of the movie trilogy "Matrix". However, that's for later!
Good questions to ponder!

Good morning sir,
If we see through the scientific approach spirituality is nothing but spirituality gives real peace to the heart and this is the beauty of spirituality.
We should be proud to born in such a great country.
Thanks sir!
Sir,
I am currently going through the book 'Emotional Intelligence', where in a research says- only 20 perc. of success in life is dependent on Intellectual Quotient.
This made me to wonder that what could be the interrelation of toppers of any batch in academics viz. a viz. to the future toppers in life as per internal satisfaction, happiness or even monetary richness.
Sir, will be glad to have your pov on- Does EQ matters more than IQ?, and how can we work for strenghthening the same.
Regards,
Manish Vaswani
Manish - two brute facts
a) never take such percentages seriously.
b) every possible combination of talent-success exists in the world. Generalisations are best avoided.
Respected sir,
After attending Dr.John DesMarteau's MDP session there is only one question in my mind that as of Indian ethnicity we all are predisposed to gradual deposition of calcium in our arteries which make them hard and also the flow passage arrow, our artery diameter is also less than that of westerners and our eating habit also does not help, so this slowly and gradually leads to acute myocardium infarction at an age of 50 and above, so can nano technology offer any immediate solution in the same matter?
Good Morning Sir,
It is very interesting to read the blogs fo the top team. They are very insightful and one best thing about this forum is that we all(Protons) get a direct chance to interact with you and discuss on varied issues.
As per my view, spirituality is something with which we will live our lives. Whatever we are, the way we behave all form a part of what we have learnt and how we have taken it. And this all greatly depends on what values we have in life.
We cant judge that what is right and what is wrong because this is entirely a personal discretion of every person.
But yes, there are certain moral standards and limits which every person is expected to follow.
I beleive that if one can offer back to the society a little more than what she/he has gained from it, then it is a great job done for life.
Being spiritual in my view is not going to temples and mosques and praying for hours. But, is one has a feeling to work for society and can give up his happiness for others then she/he surely knows what being spiritual is.
Sir, what in your opinion is the true meaning of spirituality?
Thank You Sir
Thanks Priyanka for reading the post! Spirituality, in my opinion is -
1) an understanding that the human individual is part of a much bigger network of life and spirit
2) we are spiritual beings on a human journey rather than human beings on a spiritual journey
3) a realisation that everything we do comes back to us in this life itself, so we better behave well :-) and
4) live and let live, for life is unique, beautiful and beyond our powers of creations
Thank you so much Sir!!
Sir,
It is my observations that some time spirituality comes from the fear of unknown, which has only one reason that we don’t want to be in the category of materialistic person. I am a strong believer of spirituality. In my opinion spirituality is doing things for the real peace. It can be whatever way.
You may believe that you are responsible for what you do, but not for what you think. The truth is that you are responsible for what you think, because it is only at this level that you can exercise choice. What you do comes from what you think.
I believe refreshing our thinking process is the spirituality in true sense
With regards,
Ravi
